  • Becalmed!

    Leaves defer their fall;
    While summer sunshine lingers,
    Doldrummed autumn stays.

    Light traipsing footsteps,
    Flitted down the garden path,
    To the water pond.

    Autumn thoughts persist
    Of years with curtailed freedoms,
    Leaving lasting scars.

    Persuing her dream,
    Fearlessly, relentlessly,
    Untimely, she died.

  • Listening!

    Lilium Yellow (3)Listening!

    Not in what is said,
    But, in what is left unsaid;
    Nor in what is done,
    But, in what is left undone;
    There lies the nub of what is really meant.

    Those smiling eyes,
    Or glaring gaze;
    The tilted head,
    Tightly drawn lips
    Belies a truth, could not be truly dreamt.

    A sideways stance,
    That flashing glance;
    The angled foot
    With upturned toe
    Are warning signals to tread with care.

    A raised eyebrow,
    No doubt allow,
    An intervention,
    Has hit the mark,
    Tread warily lest flimsy feelings flare.

    One lowered look,
    An elbow crook’d,
    Then fleeting sneer,
    Quite gentle snort,
    Foretells the dawning of deepening trust.

    Lo, dropping shoulders,
    The arms unfolded,
    A quivering forelip,
    One glistening eye,
    The verbal deluge now needs must .

    When floodgates opened,
    Healing beckoned,
    Sixty tortuous minutes
    Deluge down to trickle,
    All would be well!

  • Heroes and Heroines!

    Glad Yellow (3)Heroes and Heroines.
    **

    Armed with deep-seated conviction,
    Born out of decades of repression;
    Nurtured by an unshakeable resolve,
    Founded upon prescient vision;
    Resistant to the wiles of the oppressor,
    Who were driven by a fallacious belief;
    Bravely they engaged in the battle,
    To free their country from fear.

    Their spouses were not unaffected,
    Tending their vulnerable offspring;
    Like pawns in a game of chess,
    Their lives were always at risk.
    Deprived of normal family life,
    Benefactors became breadwinners;
    While mothers languished at home,
    Fathers languished on an island.

    These are heroes and heroines,
    Unheralded by countless young;
    Disparaged by a jaundiced world,
    Intent on its selfish designs;
    They sought not fame nor fortune,
    The 'Freedom To Be', they persued;
    Some made the ultimate offering,
    A new dispensation was born.

  • Strange Interlude!

    By The SeaStrange Interlude
    *

    Bright and sunny was the day,
    Not a cloud in the sky;
    Feathered friends were entertaining
    Every pleasant passerby.

    Slowly from the silent sea
    It drifted eerily to land;
    Consuming all that lay before,
    A stifling greyness filled each void.

    Tender warmth leaked from the air,
    Imbibed by thirsty thickening fog;
    The erstwhile genial tenor gone,
    Retreated from the alien fiend.

    Now, there is calm and foe has fled
    From brother sun’s redeeming rays;
    Refreshing birdsong fills the air,
    While laughter echoes everywhere!
