The Parting of A Rose!
(On the Death of a Friend)

The last few petals of the rose,
Floated sedately to the ground -
Leaving a wholesome hip to bear
Full witness to a glorious life!

The radiance of its handsome hue,
That fragrance which the air beguiled,
The velvet touch of texture true,
Have from the scene withdrawn a while.

Secreted in the forlorn hip,
The beauty of the erstwhile bloom;
Those its fragrance had inhaled,
Those its splendour had beheld.

Yesterday’s today
Can be today’s tomorrow;
Thus the tide of time!

Who desires ills for others,
Will themselves succumb!

One life on an isle,
All other lives excluded;

Healing of the past,
Through present experience;
The staff of living!

Painful memories,
Harking back to childhood days;
Can cripple old age!

To Be!

Sails set fair,
The single-handed craft
Glides airily
Across the waters of the bay.

The drink is calm,
Light playful ripples
Sparkle in the midday sun,
Like glistening gemstones.

The soft, brooding stillness,
Intermittently cracked
By gentle lapping wavelets
On the pebbled beach.

No room for thoughts,
Time has ceded her life;
Only span and space
To be!

Busy day is done;
Garden tools are packed away,
Tea Time calls within.

We swing to the right,
Betraying our darkest fears,
Of things alien!

The Carers!

Thanklessly they serve,
Every need of their charges;
Flowers for them all!

Unborn!

Beneath the burgeoning bulge
Resides,
A Life!
Unseen,
Unseeing,
Not unfelt,
Nor unfeeling;
Its sojourn is determined
By decree
Of well-being -
The caring forethought
Of its loving parentage;
Fateful grace,
And time!
