Let It Be......
Health concerns preoccupy us
In approaching later years,
Little niggles keen to nonplus,
Oft beget ungrounded fears!
Slowing down contracts our playtime,
Limitations take control;
What is worn is told by day's clime,
Steady walk depends on pole.
Me-mo-ry goes for a wander
Leaving one to stay at home
Sitting in a chair to ponder
Over one's beloved tome.
Favoured friends abide on bookshelves,
Beckoning at ev'ry glance;
Mirrored images of ourselves,
Evidence of long romance.
Buried in the vaults of selfhood,
Treasures of a life fulfilled;
Not a mote of useless deadwood,
Small regret for goodness spilled!
Lest the joys of growing older
Be impeded by frail ills,
Let contentment be much bolder -
Demonstrate acceptance skills!
